Overview

• Travel/Contract RN role in Freehold, New Jersey
• Unit 3 East
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
• 36 hours per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Orientation dates: 10/13, 11/3, 11/10

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Jersey
• Oncology (2 years of experience)
• Oncology experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Epic
• ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider Card required

Schedule and Assignment Details

• Every other weekend required
• Holidays required, every other
• Accepts first-time travelers
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Floating: may float to other MS/Tele units as needed
• Ratio: 1:6

Unit Details

• Medical-surgical oncology/telemetry unit caring for chemo patients, patients with a past or present cancer diagnosis, and inpatient hospice patients requiring general inpatient care
• Does not accept patients with infections that may compromise the oncology population, COVID-19, airborne isolation, or peritoneal dialysis patients
• 14 private rooms
• Ceiling lifts
• Negative- or positive-pressure room for infection control
• Provides oncology and medical-surgical care, including care for patients requiring cardiac monitoring

Clinical Skills

• IV/infusions including port access, central-line blood draws, PICC/central/implanted-line care, infusion pumps, IV hydration, and IV starts
• Chemotherapy administration and monitoring, including continuous infusion, IV push, and oral chemo
• Post-chemo body-fluid handling and cytotoxic-spill management/disposal
• Symptom management for oncology-related complications including neutropenic precautions, acute tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
• Care coordination, chest tubes, colostomy/ileostomy care, Foley catheter insertion, dysrhythmia interpretation, isolation precautions/PPE, telephone triage, and post-surgical care

Additional Requirements

• Flu vaccine required; declinations not accepted
• Medical and religious exemptions accepted, with mask required if exempt
• Background check, education verification, transcript/diploma if schooling was outside the US, physical exam, TB screening, drug screen, references, application/resume, skills checklist, and work history verification are required per submission process
