Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Columbia, Missouri
Facility: University of Missouri Hospital

Unit & Patient Population

• 21 bed adult medical/surgical unit
• Float position covering Medical Surgical Floors
• Patient diagnoses include:

  • COPD
  • CHF
  • Diabetes
  • Renal Failure
  • Hip fractures
  • Sepsis
  • Pneumonia

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Requirements & Qualifications

• BLS certification required (AHA or ARC Provider card)
• 1 year nursing experience required
• First-time travelers are welcome

Certifications (as applicable)

• ACLS (required for certain units, check if applicable)
• PALS (if working in Pediatrics, ER, PICU)
• NRP (for L&D, NICU, Postpartum, Nursery)
• CHEMO (required for Oncology, new requirement as of 3/28/25)
• TNCC (required for ER RNs starting 11/5/2024)
• EFM (required for L&D RNs)
• CPI (required for Psych/Behavioral Health RNs)
• State License verification (Primary Source Verification within 60 days)
• NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) within 60 days

Background & Screening

• 7-year background check required within 60 days of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusions checks required within 60 days
• International background check if candidate traveled outside the USA in last 7 years
• Missouri-specific background checks (MO FCSR or MO Caregiver search) required and must be on file before start
• Drug screening: Negative 7-panel within 60 days of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be initiated within 48 hours of signing)
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (3M 1870+, 1860R, 1860S, 9205)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or approved exemption
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
• Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines required
• Hepatitis B series or positive/reactive titer required (declinations no longer accepted for new candidates after 7/1/2023)
• Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
• Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/01 - 03/31)

Documentation & Compliance

• I9 or attestation proof
• Valid photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• E-Verify proof or attestation
• Employment application/resume with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
• Two professional references within last 2 years
• Skills checklist updated annually (not required for non-clinical)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA compliance)
• Facility-specific forms including Access and Confidentiality Agreement, New Hire Packet, TB Survey, and others as required

Additional Notes

• Candidates with positive TB must submit INH treatment proof or sign facility-specific INH recommendation
• Background checks and screenings are reviewed case-by-case for any findings
• Some certifications and competencies may be required depending on specialty or unit assignment
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation deadlines

This position offers an opportunity to work in a diverse adult med/surg environment with a variety of patient diagnoses, suitable for nurses with at least 1 year of experience and those new to travel nursing.
