Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (ICU)

Location: Modesto, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Accountable for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting.
• Provides direct patient care, patient/family education, and manages transitions of care.
• Delivers holistic and individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
• Maintains collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers through effective communication.
• Adheres to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws to promote optimal patient experience.

Shift Details

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3 x 12)
• Weekend requirement: Every other Saturday and Sunday; holidays as needed

Required Qualifications

• License: Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only, within 180 days of hire
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - within 180 days of hire, valid for 4 years
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) - within 90 days of hire
• Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must indicate cleared for work)
• Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
• Immunizations and Health Requirements:

  • Adult TDAP within 10 years or lifetime TDAP with booster within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination as required
  • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series (declination allowed with signed form)
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination as required
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30)
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana per CA law)

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
• Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 2 years ICU experience (standard for ICU travel RN roles)
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Background and Compliance Checks

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
• FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start, then monthly updates
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List, Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List as applicable
• Education verification (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
• Sex Offender Search within 90 days of start
• Employment verification with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days without explanation

Additional Requirements

• Must complete and sign facility-specific documents including:

  • Job description acknowledgment
  • Standards of Business Conduct
  • Regulatory orientation for contracted workers
  • Vendor training and code of conduct (2024 and 2025 versions as applicable)
  • TB Screening Questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
  • Religious accommodation forms if applicable
• Competency exams as applicable (medication test, dysrhythmia/EKG, etc.)
• Passport-style photo for badge
