Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: No blocked schedule requests
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratios: 1:4
- Scrubs Color: Royal Blue
- Orientation: Bi-weekly
- Flu Vaccination: Required, no exemptions or declinations accepted
- Local candidates within 75 miles considered at a local rate
- First-time travelers are welcome
- Local candidates are also eligible
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in MS/Telemetry
- Also accepting RNs with Emergency Department (ED) or Clinical Evaluation Unit backgrounds
- EPIC charting experience required
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred; training provided onsite if not currently held
Licensure
- Must hold a current North Carolina RN license or a Compact RN license
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience with MS/Telemetry patient care
- EPIC electronic health record charting experience
- Ability to work every other weekend
- Must comply with all health and safety requirements including flu vaccination
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Up-to-date immunizations including:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap every 10 years
- Polio vaccine or attestation
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for candidates starting October through March (no exemptions)
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Annual updates not required unless there is a gap between contracts
Background & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, and education verification as applicable
- Employment application and 7 years of work history required
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months, including at least one supervisor
- Competency exams and unit-specific training required
- Duke Guest Account setup required prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
Additional Notes
- No blocked schedule requests allowed
- Candidates must be able to work the required weekend schedule
- Orientation and training include CPI if not already certified
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap from a previous Duke assignment may have some documentation requirements waived or accepted on file
