Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each
  • Call shifts: 1 to 2 per week
  • Weekend shifts: 1 every 6 weeks
  • Typical days off follow call shifts; schedule is Monday-Friday with a rotating day off each week
  • Assist physicians with interventional neuro, vascular, CT/US guided procedures
  • Preferred experience with EPIC, Siemens single and Bi-plane equipment, and McKesson PACS
  • Must be proficient in scrubbing as first assist, circulating, filming, and charging exams in EPIC
  • Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted

Experience Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in Interventional Radiology (IR) with skills in Vascular Interventional Radiology (VIR)
  • Years of experience required: 3 years (default to higher value if discrepancy)
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Licenses & Certifications Required

  • ARRT(R) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • RTR or RTRVI certification
  • Kentucky Radiation Operator's License (must be obtained before start date)
  • Certified First Assistant (for First Assist RNs)
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification, and other specialty certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (review unit details)
  • State License verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) within 30 days of start

Background Checks & Compliance

  • Background check within 1 year, updated annually
  • County and national criminal background checks, sex offender search, FACIS III, education verification
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Transcript/Diploma and Education Verification required
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for multiple units including IR
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for ICU, ER, Cath Lab, IR, and other units

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, renewed annually
  • TB questionnaire annually if history of positive TB
  • Immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (with annual renewal or declination)
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific drug panels required)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required year-round with medical/religious exemptions accepted
  • COVID vaccination or medical/religious exemption required; booster preferred but not required

Competency Exams & Skills Verification

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam within 1 year of start, renewed annually
  • Color Blind Testing online within 1 year of start
  • Unit-specific Competency Exams (multiple) within 1 year of start, renewed annually
  • Conscious Sedation Competency Exam (if applicable)
  • RN Math Ability Competency Exam annually
  • Skills Checklists (1 and 2) must be reviewed and updated annually
  • EKG Exam required within first week of booking; must pass with 80% or higher; two attempts allowed only

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references verified within 6 months of start (manager or supervisor preferred)
  • Employment application must explain any gaps longer than 30 days
  • Employment verification for last 7 years required, completed 8 business days prior to start
  • Must sign facility-specific non-clinical policies (Acceptable Use, Confidentiality, Electronic Communications, Password Policy) prior to start
  • Local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible for this position

This position is ideal for experienced Interventional Radiology professionals comfortable with travel assignments and meeting comprehensive credentialing, health, and competency requirements.
