Travel/Contract Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Titusville, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse with experience in L&D, postpartum, and mother-baby care. The role involves labor support, fetal monitoring, vaginal exams, and newborn resuscitation/stabilization. Float and weekend shifts may be required.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Preferred 5-10 years of experience
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Key Responsibilities & Skills

• Labor & Delivery, postpartum, Mother-Baby care
• Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
• Vaginal Exams and Labor Support
• Managing pregnancy-related diagnoses
• Pitocin induction and labor induction
• Handling repeat and primary C-sections
• L&D triage for pregnancies 20 weeks and greater
• Labor management
• Newborn resuscitation and stabilization after birth
• Assisting with breastfeeding after delivery
• Performing Non-Stress Tests

Work Environment

• Acute Care Hospital with 210 staffed beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2-3
• No on-call required
• Float required
• Weekend requirements vary
• No local candidates (must live more than 30 miles from facility)

Certifications & Licenses Required

• Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Florida
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
• Other preferred but not required:

  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background check within 6 months, including social security trace, nationwide and county checks, sex offender registry, and education verification
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start
• Education verification (ASN, BSN, or MSN)
• Performance evaluation within the last year if applicable
• Two professional references within two years
• Skills checklist required
• Physical exam within 6 months of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 3 months of start
• COVID vaccination documentation or approved exemption
• Flu vaccination documentation or declination (not required for contract workers)
• Required facility-specific orientation and competency modules must be completed prior to start

• Strict attendance policy: 3 call-outs result in termination
• Shift change notices:

  • 48 hours notice refusal may forfeit guaranteed hours

• May accommodate block scheduling upon request

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs comfortable with acute care hospital settings and specialized maternal-newborn care.
