Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - ICU
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Call Requirements: None
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Floating: Mandatory float facility; ICU RNs will float between Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, Neuro ICU, and possibly Medical-Surgical units as needed.
• Orientation: First week on day shift (orientation + precepting)

Experience & Certification Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in ICU (highest required)
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (required for ICU RNs)

Licensing & Location

• Local Candidates: Accepted and preferred; must live within 75 miles of the facility
• Pending License: Not accepted

Prior Travel Experience

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
• Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
• Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, updated annually
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
  • Varicella with 2 vaccines or positive titer
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and color blindness testing as required

Additional Notes

• No call requirements or block scheduling
• No RTO (request time off) allowed on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after holidays; max 5 days RTO with no more than 2 consecutive days
• Must comply with facility-specific forms and rules of behavior
• References and employment application required per agency standards (not a client requirement)

This position is ideal for ICU RNs with solid acute care experience who are comfortable floating across multiple ICU units and working a consistent 3x12 schedule with weekend rotation.
