Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

• Dedicated home health position; work is performed in patients' homes (no facility work).
• Patients primarily on tracheostomies and ventilators; experience with these is required.
• PICU experience required.
• Minimum 6 months experience in home health or acute care setting required.
• Experience with pediatrics and/or individuals with developmental delays preferred.
• Experience managing technology-dependent and medically complex patients preferred.
• Strong communication skills required to interact with all organizational levels.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software required.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Registered Nurse (RN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Licensure: Current Ohio RN license required.
• Certifications:

  • Current CPR/BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
• Experience:

  • At least 6 months experience in one or more of the following: Home Care, Geriatric care, Medical/Surgical, CCU, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, or Department of Developmental Disabilities.
  • PICU experience required (this may imply higher specialty experience).
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required.

Required Compliance & Documentation

• Valid government-issued photo ID required while on assignment.
• 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, counties lived/worked, statewide, national criminal, nationwide sex offender, FACIS Level 3, OFAC, education verification, and international checks if applicable.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and must be updated annually or after breaks in service over 30 days.
• Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprinting required within 1 month of start; must be updated annually.
• Education verification or diploma/transcript required.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, updated annually.
• Immunizations and titers required: Tdap (within 10 years), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start.
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; new screen required after breaks in service over 30 days.
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (11/15 - 5/31).

Required Competencies & Training

• Unit-specific competency exam, updated annually.
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required for RNs.
• Core training parts I, II, and III required annually.
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required annually.

Preferred Certifications

• ACLS (AHA only) for PICU.
• PALS (AHA only) for PICU.
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred for PICU and ER.
• PCAR (Pediatric Care After Resuscitation) preferred for PICU.

Additional Notes

• Must sign facility-specific agreements including computer security, HIPAA/confidentiality, and float policy for pediatric and ICU units.
• Two positive professional references required, including at least one from the most recent employer.
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care or similar area.
• Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.

This position is ideal for experienced pediatric RNs with PICU and home health experience who are comfortable managing medically complex, technology-dependent pediatric patients in a home care setting.
