Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks


Job Summary

  • Work in the Main OR supporting General, Neuro, Spine, Ortho, Robotics, Urology, Vascular, and Colorectal surgeries.
  • Circulate and Scrub experience is a hard requirement.
  • Patient population ranges from adults to geriatrics.
  • Unit systems include Epic, Pyxis, and 2 DaVinci XI Robots.
  • Average daily census: 35 patients across 16 rooms.

Schedule & Work Requirements

  • Return to Office (RTO) maximum: 7 days.
  • RTO blackout dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th).
  • Weekend shifts: 2–3 weekends per 8-week schedule, either in-house or on call.
  • Call requirements: 7-8 calls in an 8-week period, including 1 weekend call and 1-2 weekend shifts.
  • Call shifts: 7 p.m.–7 a.m. or 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • Floating is rare but may be required within facility/scope of practice.
  • Holiday work expectations: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if 2 holidays, expected to work both; if 3 holidays, expected to work two.
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in Operating Room nursing. First-time travelers are accepted.
  • Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Georgia.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on specialty area.
    • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, EFM) may be required based on unit specifics.
  • Skills: Circulate and Scrub experience required.
  • Competencies: Medication test/pharmacology competency, color blind testing, competency exams including dysrhythmia/EKG competency (if applicable).

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check completed within 30 days prior to start.
  • Education verification required; diploma/transcript may be required.
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months; TB questionnaire updated annually.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season).
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Work history verification and 2 clinical references required.

Additional Notes

  • Orientation hours are proportional to contract length (e.g., 10 hours for 10-week assignment).
  • Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling.
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate.
