Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU)

• Shift Requirements:

  • Weekend shifts required: 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday/Sunday combination)
  • Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:5; may flex to 1:6 occasionally, with travelers expected to take extra patients
• Floating: Regular floating within scope to different departments, units, and facilities as needed
• Local Candidates: Not accepted (home address must be at least 50 miles from facility)
• Pending License: Not accepted
• Guaranteed Hours: No
• Return to Origin (RTO) Restrictions: 1 request allowed

  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias

• Endocrine/Metabolic: IV insulin protocols
• IV Therapy/Phlebotomy:

• Medications: Heparin protocols, PCA (Patient Controlled Analgesia)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• Criminal background check within 6 months (including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (quarterly)
• Education verification of highest nursing degree (cannot pend at start)
• State license primary source verification (Missouri license verifiable on NURSYS)
• NURSYS verification required for RN license
• Unit-specific competency exams (including dysrhythmia/EKG competency within 12 months)
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam
• Color blind testing within 12 months
• Physical exam within 1 year
• Fit mask (N95) testing and annual renewal required
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2 negative PPDs or equivalent)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer, vaccines, or declination as applicable)

This position is ideal for experienced PCU RNs with at least 2 years of specialty experience who are comfortable with telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and a variety of complex patient care skills in a fast-paced tertiary care setting. Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
