Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU)
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- First-time Travelers: Not accepted
- Shift Requirements:
- Weekend shifts required: 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday/Sunday combination)
- Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed
- Patient Ratios: Typically 1:5; may flex to 1:6 occasionally, with travelers expected to take extra patients
- Floating: Regular floating within scope to different departments, units, and facilities as needed
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (home address must be at least 50 miles from facility)
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: No
- Return to Origin (RTO) Restrictions: 1 request allowed

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Criminal background check within 6 months (including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (quarterly)
- Education verification of highest nursing degree (cannot pend at start)
- State license primary source verification (Missouri license verifiable on NURSYS)
- NURSYS verification required for RN license
- Unit-specific competency exams (including dysrhythmia/EKG competency within 12 months)
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam
- Color blind testing within 12 months
- Physical exam within 1 year
- Fit mask (N95) testing and annual renewal required
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2 negative PPDs or equivalent)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer, vaccines, or declination as applicable)
- Hepatitis B declination required (not mandatory vaccine)
- Drug testing within 1 year, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
- Various facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, regulatory compliance education, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies
- Orientation modules completed through WorkRamp prior to start (approx. 16 hours)

This position is ideal for experienced PCU RNs with at least 2 years of specialty experience who are comfortable with telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and a variety of complex patient care skills in a fast-paced tertiary care setting. Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
