Location: Lindsborg, Kansas

Job Description
- Position: General Medical-Surgical Emergency Room Float RN at a Rural Critical Access Hospital
- Start Date: February only
- Experience Required: Emergency Room (ER) and Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) experience
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech
- First-time travelers accepted
- Scrubs: Any color allowed
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (annual requirement)
Preferred Certifications / Skills
- NIH Stroke Certification preferred
- Skills such as accessing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, heparin medication administration, CVA care, tracheostomy management, wound care/wound vac
Required Skills
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias
- Telemetry monitoring on unit
- IV insulin protocols
- Colostomy and feeding tube care/management
- Starting IVs
- Insulin medication administration
- Oxygen delivery methods including nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face mask, portable oxygen tank
- Isolation precautions
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse with ER and Med Surg experience

- State License Verification (Primary Source Verification)
- NURSYS Verification (for all RNs)
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
- Performance Evaluations if worked over 1 year with the agency (collected internally)
- Skills Checklist updated annually for applicable units
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Physician statement within 30 days of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- N95 Fit Test: Required within 12 months of start; can be completed onsite during orientation if needed
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (current within 10 years; required for Birth Center/NICU staff)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (or documentation if past positive)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer within 10 years or completed 2-dose vaccine series (boosters required if non-immune)
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, completed 3-dose series, or declination form
- Varicella: Positive titer or completed 2-dose vaccine series
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen including marijuana within 30 days of start (SAMHSA certified, reviewed by MRO; instant tests not accepted)
- Flu Vaccine or Declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); if declined, mask must be worn at all times
- COVID-19 Vaccine or Declination accepted; medical and religious exemptions accepted with declination form
Additional Information
- Mileage reviewed upon submittal (100-mile radius rule)
- Healthstream modules (~8 hours) required and must be completed prior to start
- Facility-specific documents including photo for badge required
