Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical First Assistant

Location: Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Specialty

• Surgical Services
• Must have at least 1 year of experience in Surgical Services (including C-section experience)
• Able to work in both Surgery and Birthing Inn

Schedule

• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM (Surgery)
• Wednesday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Birthing Inn)
• On-call requirements:

  • Two weeknights from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Every 3rd weekend (Saturday to Sunday) 24 hours for C-sections in Birthing Inn
  • Must be available for on-call shifts with a 30-minute response time

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of specialty experience
• Prior travel experience is NOT accepted for first-time travelers (1st time travelers not accepted)

Certifications Required

• NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – ARC or AHA acceptable
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – ARC or AHA acceptable
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – ARC or AHA acceptable
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – as required
• Other certifications as applicable to specialty and profession

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender check
• State-specific caregiver screening (Wisconsin Caregiver Search)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative QGold TB test within 1 year (Chest X-Ray within 60 days if applicable)
• Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen with expanded opiates within 14 days before start
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct-Mar)
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
• Photo for badge (passport style)
• Confidentiality statement and compliance checklist to be completed prior to start
• References: 2 professional references verified within 2 years (specific requirements for inpatient RNs do not apply here)

Additional Notes

• Locals are accepted but at a lower rate
• Must be able to work in both surgical and birthing environments with C-section experience
• On-call availability with quick response time is mandatory

This position is ideal for experienced Certified Surgical First Assistants with C-section experience who are ready for a 13-week travel contract in Wisconsin.
