Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbia, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Details
- 42-bed unit
- Every Other Weekend (EOW) schedule
- Floating required
- Must work 50% of holidays
- Team nursing model
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- Day shift: 1:5-6
- Night shift: 1:6
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC Provider card required for all RNs
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but not mandatory
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., TNCC for ER RNs starting 11/5/2024)
Job Expectations
- Ability to work at assigned location for the full contract term
- Ability to work the majority of assigned shift hours
- Ability to take call
- Ability to work assigned weekends
- Ability to work at least 50% of holidays during the contract
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check: 7-year history within 60 days of start, including alias search, counties lived/worked, national and federal criminal searches, sex offender search, social security trace, and international background check if applicable
- Drug screening: Negative 7-panel within 60 days of start
- State-specific background checks and registrations (Missouri FCSR or Caregiver search) required within 60 days
- Verification of state nursing license (primary source verification within 60 days)
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, must be initiated within 48 hours of signing
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or approved exemption
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or positive titer (declinations no longer accepted for new candidates)
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (10/01 - 03/31)
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (3M models accepted), renewed annually
- Photo for badge (new candidates only)
- References: 2 professional references within last 2 years
- Resume: Minimum 7 years employment history with no gaps over 30 days, including education details
Additional Notes
- Floating between units is required
- Team nursing environment
- Must be able to work holidays and weekends as specified
- Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required
- Some certifications and competencies may be required depending on specialty or unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, CPI)
