Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Cardiac Telemetry)

Location: Waterbury, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Shift Details

  • 12-hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week
  • Weekend coverage every other weekend
  • Float required

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of specialty experience (Cardiac Telemetry)
  • LTAC (Long-Term Acute Care) experience required
  • Unit accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Patient Population

  • Adults and Geriatrics

Patient Diagnoses

  • Heart failure
  • Atrial fibrillation (Afib) and Afib with Rapid Ventricular Response (RVR)
  • Stroke
  • Post PCI / cardiac catheterization

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Cardiac telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • On-unit and remote telemetry monitoring
  • Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
  • Pacemaker care (temporary and permanent)
  • Post cardiac angiogram and myocardial infarction (MI) care
  • Pre/post cardiac catheterization care
  • TR Band management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central and peripheral line care/management
  • Heparin protocols
  • Management of cardiac drips (no titration)
  • Care for cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) and intracranial bleeds
  • Oxygen administration and non-invasive airway management
  • Isolation precautions
  • Documentation in Cerner system
  • Medication administration via Omnicell system
  • Communication using SBAR technique

Documentation and Systems

  • Electronic Health Record: Cerner
  • Medication system: Omnicell
  • Communication system: SBAR

Uniform

  • Scrubs: Navy blue

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with annual TB questionnaire)
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption (seasonal)
  • COVID-19 vaccination required with medical/religious exemptions accepted
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start

Background Checks and Documentation

  • Standard 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, national criminal, and sex offender registry
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM checks (monthly or annually as required)
  • State-specific exclusion list checks (updated monthly)
  • Professional license verification (primary source within 30 days of start)
  • Harassment prevention training certificate required prior to start

  • Minimum 2 professional references required
