Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Salina, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks (interpreted as 13 weeks)
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, 11:00 PM - 11:00 AM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Patient Ratio: 1:4
Unit Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Experience & Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Years of Experience Required: 1.5 years
• Prior Travel Experience: Required (no exceptions)
• First Time Travelers: Not accepted
• License: Kansas state license or compact license at time of submission
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (annual)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• Skills Required:

  • Interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
  • Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Central line care/management
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • IV vasopressors
  • CPAP/BiPAP management
  • Interpretation of ABGs
  • Care of ventilated patients
  • Isolation precautions
  • Triage skills
• Preferred Skills: Charge nurse experience

Facility & Job Specifics

• Radius restriction: 100-mile radius rule (mileage reviewed upon submittal)
• Prior employees of this facility will not be considered
• Must have MEDITECH experience (no exceptions)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Proof of I9 or Attestation
• Government issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
• Proof of E-Verify or Attestation
• Residency Declaration Form (if working on a compact license)
• Background Check: 7-year criminal check within a year of start, updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
• Education Verification or Transcript/Diploma (proof of highest degree earned)
• FACIS Level III screening within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification for all RNs
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA compliance)
• State License Primary Source Verification

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam: Physician statement within 30 days of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions
• N95 Fit Mask Test: Completed within 12 months or onsite during orientation
• Immunizations & Titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (current within 10 years; required for Birth Center/NICU staff)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (or documentation if positive history)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer within 10 years or completed 2-dose vaccine series (boosters required if non-immune)
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, completed vaccine series, or declination form
  • Varicella: Positive titer or completed 2-dose vaccine series
• Drug Testing:

  • 10-panel drug screen including marijuana within 30 days of start (SAMHSA certified, reviewed by MRO)
• Flu Vaccination or Declination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 Vaccine or Declination accepted (medical/religious exemptions allowed with declination form)

Additional Notes

• References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
• Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually for applicable units
• Healthstream Modules: Required for all candidates; approximately 8 hours to complete and must be finished prior to start
• Performance Evaluations: Required if traveler has worked with the agency for over 1 year (collected internally)

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with critical care skills and prior travel contract experience, who are comfortable working night shifts and managing complex patient care scenarios.
