Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. This is a travel contract position in Ohio.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing, with experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all candidates.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Preferred but not required for this specialty.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Not required for MS/Tele.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Not required for MS/Tele.
- Other Certifications:
- NIH Stroke Certification preferred but not required.
- CNOR, CHEMO, Tech Certs, and others are not required for this specialty.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required prior to start and updated annually.
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and results must be current within 12 months. Candidates may start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
- NURSYS verification and primary source verification of RN license required within 30 days of start.
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually. Instant drug screens are not acceptable.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
- Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months of start and updated annually. PAPRs not provided for facial hair failure; exemptions require approval.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray if past positive.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer required.
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination accepted with agency-approved exemptions.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required.
- Seasonal Flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions must be approved).
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.
Orientation and Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome and cannot be completed on a phone.
- Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) required for all bedside RNs except OR RNs. Passing scores: 90% for medication, 80% for ECG. Retakes allowed with remediation.
- SafeMedicate prep materials provided for exam preparation.
Documentation and History
- Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history, including 2 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting relevant to the assignment.
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start, from a manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director. Co-worker references are not accepted.
- Skills checklist required annually.
Additional Notes
- Candidates with gaps in employment or returning to the facility after a break may have specific requirements regarding physical exams, eye exams, and training modules.
- Legal name must be consistent across all documentation.
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID at all times during assignment.
