Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU

Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36


Position Overview

  • Pediatric Respiratory Therapist with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience.
  • Patient age groups include neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.
  • Schedule includes 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block.
  • Orientation sessions held bi-weekly.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year.
  • Experience working with pediatric patients.
  • Required certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Additional Requirements

  • Must provide a valid driver’s license or government-issued photo ID.
  • Background checks required within 90 days of start, including SSN trace, county and alias searches, nationwide and international checks if applicable.
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel test including THC within 30 days of start.
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Physical exam within 12 months.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no exemptions).
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive antibody titers.
    • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (no exemptions).
    • Polio vaccine or signed attestation.
  • Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor).
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required.
  • Completion of unit-specific competency exam.
  • Must set up a facility guest account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems.

Notes

  • First-time travelers are eligible to apply.
  • Local candidates within 75 miles are considered.
  • On-call shifts are not required.
  • Candidates must complete all required online modules prior to orientation.
  • Competency checklists (CBOs) must be completed within 3 weeks after start date.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card training may be provided onsite if not already held.
