Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Job Description

• Work schedule options: alternating 3x12-hour shifts one week and 4x12-hour shifts the next, or straight 4x12-hour shifts.
• No first-time travelers accepted.
• EPIC electronic health record system experience required.
• Weekend shifts required.
• Holiday shifts required every other holiday.
• Scrub color: navy.

Required Certifications and Skills

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – CPI Blue Card accepted only; may be completed onsite within 30 days of start.

Required Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually)
• Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry and Emergency Room nursing, must score 80% or higher, updated annually)
• Core Part I, II, and III (required and updated annually)

Required Health Documents and Immunizations

• Physical exam within 12 months of start.
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with appropriate exemption forms).
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per current guidelines.
• Annual TB questionnaire.
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer is low.
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declinations must be signed within 12 months of start).
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer is low.
• Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required annually (with accepted medical/religious exemptions and declinations).
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date).

Background and Verification Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Sex offender search.
• State nursing license verification within 30 days of start.
• NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start.
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana.
• Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year.
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
• Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Current PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIHSS certification.
• CPI certification (Crisis Prevention Institute).
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.

This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable with variable 12-hour shift schedules and meet the listed certification and competency requirements.
