Location: Vail, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

As a Physical Therapist in an outpatient setting, you will:

  • Evaluate and treat various physical therapy patients per physician’s referral or direct access
  • Establish and supervise physical therapy assistants following a PT plan of care
  • Become competent in evaluating and treating injured workers, including use of ACOMP systems for Return to Work plans
  • Utilize modalities and exercise equipment available in the facility
  • Perform post-offer testing such as WorkSTEPS or APET
  • Conduct Work Hardening Evaluations or Functional Capacity Evaluations
  • Perform ergonomic evaluations or job analysis
  • Supervise cleaning or organizational tasks and direct PT technicians
  • Manage scheduling, patient visits, and referrals as needed
  • Understand and properly utilize billing codes for various payer types
  • Communicate patient progress weekly with rehab nurses and maintain timely notes for referring physicians
  • Maintain all licensure requirements in good standing for the state of employment
  • Maintain professional interactions with patients, doctors, case managers, insurance representatives, and other contacts
  • Assist with business development, marketing, and community engagement activities as workload allows
  • Perform additional tasks as needed for the benefit of the team and facility

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in Arizona
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist within the last year
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an outpatient setting

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Background checks including 7-year work/school history and sex offender registry
  • Transcript or diploma copy
  • State license verification (primary source)
  • Competency exams as applicable (e.g., medication/pharmacology)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Immunization or titer proof for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella (Chicken Pox)
  • 9-panel drug screen within 1 year
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • Professional references (2 for travel/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care)
  • Completed employment application/resume
  • Annual skills checklist

Additional Information

  • Maintain all licensure and documentation in good standing throughout the contract
  • Professional attitude and communication skills are essential
  • Willingness to participate in community and marketing events is encouraged

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic outpatient physical therapy environment with a variety of patient populations, including injured workers, and to develop skills in functional evaluations and ergonomic assessments.
