Job Description
- Position involves working in a Stepdown/Cardiac Telemetry unit.
- Schedule: 8-week blocked rotating days and nights.
- Weekend shifts required: Minimum 4 weekend shifts plus 4 Monday or Friday shifts based on unit needs.
- Floating assignments include PCU, Stepdown, and IMCU units.
- On-call duties required.
- Blocked scheduling is not open.
- First-time travelers and local candidates are welcome.
- Local candidates considered within 75 miles of the location.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Cardiac Stepdown/Telemetry, including experience within the last year.
- Telemetry experience required.
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Orientation & Training
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly.
- Scrub color: Royal Blue.
- Unit-specific competency exams required.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training provided during orientation (valid for 2 years).
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Candidates must provide and maintain the following, typically within specified timeframes before start date:
- I9 or attestation.
- Valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID).
- Social Security card (if used for I9).
- Background checks including:
- Criminal background check within 90 days.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 90 days.
- Education verification as applicable.
- OFAC sanctions list search within 30 days.
- Physical exam within 12 months.
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunization or positive titers.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
- Seasonal flu vaccination (declinations not accepted).
- Polio vaccine or attestation.
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen (including THC) within 30 days of start.
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (one must be a supervisor).
- Employment application with 7 years of work history.
- Annual skills checklist.
- Competency checklist to be completed within 3 weeks after start date.
- Facility-specific online modules to be completed prior to orientation.
- Setup of a facility guest account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems.
Additional Notes
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments may have some documentation requirements waived or accepted on file.
- Candidates must confirm guest account setup before being cleared.
- Candidates must meet all compliance and documentation requirements prior to starting.
- Local candidates receive a slightly adjusted rate but are fully eligible.
- Floating assignments may require flexibility to work in related units.
