Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech

Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Varied schedule over two weeks:
    • Week 1: 40 hours total
      • Sunday: 7 AM – 11 PM (15 hours)
      • Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 3 PM – 12 AM (8.5 hours each)
    • Week 2: 32 hours total
      • Monday, Tuesday: 3 PM – 12 AM (8.5 hours each)
      • Saturday: 7 AM – 11 PM (15 hours)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Radiology Technologist license in New York
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiology Technologist, including experience within the last year
  • Experience as an X-Ray Technician
  • Experience with Epic Charting system

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – preferably AHA or Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
  • Successful completion of advanced EKG/ECG competency exam within 72 hours of contract signing (90% passing score required; 3 attempts allowed)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Color Blind Testing preferred
  • NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit assignment

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start date
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold) within 1 year; chest X-ray if prior positive PPD
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 1 year (negative result required)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Measles (Rubeola): 2 MMR boosters or positive titer
    • Mumps: 2 MMR boosters or positive titer
    • Rubella: 2 MMR boosters or positive titer
    • Varicella: 2 boosters or positive titer or history of chickenpox
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, declination, or vaccine series
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required by December 5th, 2024 (mask required if exempt)
  • Eye exam including Ishihara color deficiency test

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
  • Background checks including 7-year search, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG (updated annually)
  • Facility-specific documents and training including:
    • Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State requirement for RNs and LPNs)
    • Photo for badge (passport-style)
    • FCRA Authorization Release
    • Lift assessment (typically 25 lbs, may vary by position)
    • ECG Study Guide review
    • TSH Medical History form completion
    • N95 OSHA questionnaire and fit testing (quantitative test required for 3M 1870 mask)
    • PPD Questionnaire
    • Virtual orientation and clinical testing modules completion prior to start date
    • Religious exemption request form for flu vaccine if applicable

Local Residency Rule

  • Candidates with primary residence within 50 miles are eligible, excluding the following counties:
    Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, Ulster

References

  • 2 professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles
  • 1 professional reference required for per diem non-acute care roles
