Job Summary
Seeking a Medical Assistant with at least 2 years of experience. First-time travelers are accepted. The role requires insurance knowledge and flexibility to float to other campuses. Patient age groups served include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Work Setting Experience
- Pulmonary Function Test Lab (preferred)
- Adult Critical Care, Emergency Department (ED), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Pediatrics (required)
Clinical Skills & Responsibilities
- Airway Management: Extubation, intubation assist, nasal airway placement and suctioning, oral airway placement, oropharyngeal suctioning, sputum specimen collection, tracheostomy suctioning
- Medication Administration: Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, Isuprel, Lidocaine, Mucomyst, Nitric Oxide (INo), Perforomist, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, Terbutaline Sulfate, Theophylline, Tobramycin, Xopenex
- Medication Delivery Systems: Aerosol setup mask and trach, Medihaler, Metered dose inhaler
- Nebulizer Types: Cold, handheld, heated, ultrasonic, T-piece, trach collar
- Ventilator Management: BiPAP, Flow-by, CPAP, high frequency oscillator, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Ventilators: Draeger, Servo I (required)
- Professional Knowledge: Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) interpretation, basic EKG
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Schedule
- Scrubs: Any
- Weekend coverage: Variable, typically every other weekend
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Washington
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Adult Critical Care, Emergency Department (ED), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and Pediatrics
- Medical Assistant experience
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Drug testing: 10 panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator clearance required annually for travel candidates
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 6 months of employment within last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years
Floating Policy
Acknowledgement required; may be required to float to other facilities within a reasonable distance.
