Job Opportunity: Clinical Lab Scientist
Location: San Mateo, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Seeking a Generalist Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) with blood bank experience, including crossmatch and antibody workups (antibody identification). Prior experience with Epic Beaker and Safetrace TX is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) license in California
- Minimum of 1 year Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) experience, including experience within the last year
- Blood bank experience including antibody identification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year work/living history and sex offender check.
- Driver’s license or state ID (color copy required).
- I9 verification and E-Verify attestation.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance of communicable diseases.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
- N95 fit test within 1 year of start (Max Air CAPR acceptable if N95 test failed).
- Immunization and titer requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or annual declination.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray if positive.
- Titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella with boosters as needed.
- Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31).
- COVID-19 vaccination highly recommended but not required; candidates must provide proof of vaccination, medical/religious exemption, or declination.
- HIPAA manual review and acknowledgement prior to start.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA provider or instructor card required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) not required for this role.
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, CHEMO, etc.) not applicable unless specified by unit.
Additional Notes
- Monthly checks for EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG required.
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required.
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable.
- Core competency exams required as applicable.
- Facility-specific COVID-19 vaccination confirmation and flu declination forms required if applicable.
