Travel Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: Nights, either 4x12 or 3x12 shifts (19:00-07:30), including weekdays and weekends (3 shifts per 4-week schedule)

Unit Information

• 34-bed Medical/Surgical unit with telemetry
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 to 1:7

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System

• Cerner

Important Notes

• Facility expects high attendance reliability; only 2-3 call-offs tolerated per contract
• Scrubs are not provided
• Work radius: within 75 miles of the facility

Required Documentation and Compliance

Candidates must provide the following prior to start:

• Proof of I9 or attestation
• Government-issued photo ID
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG verifications
• Education verification and RN license verification
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (updated annually)
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella titers or vaccinations
  • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
  • Varicella titer or vaccination
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
  • COVID vaccination or declination
• Drug screening (10 panel) within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Stroke education CEUs (8 hours annually)
• Competency exams and facility-specific training modules including Cerner EMR training
• Completion of ReadySet (RS) health assessment surveys
• Submission of at least 2 clinical references within the past 2 years
• Skills checklist updated annually

Additional Requirements

• Facility-specific forms and acknowledgments including confidentiality agreements, background drug screen consent, parking pass, and contractor forms
• Badge photo prior to clearance
• Completion of Care Learning Modules prior to start date

Summary

This is a night shift travel Registered Nurse position on a Medical Surgical telemetry unit requiring at least 2 years of MedSurg RN experience. The role demands strong attendance, multiple certifications, and compliance with extensive health and background documentation. Prior travel experience is not required. The EMR system used is Cerner.
