Registered Nurse – Neuro PCU

Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Charting System: EPIC experience required
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
Call Off Policy: Allowed 1 call off shift per 2 weeks
Floating: Required to float to units within clinical skillset
Patient Population: Adult patients with neurological conditions, including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow
Unit Details:
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4–5 (confirm comfort with 1:5 ratio)
- Includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Neuro PCU - Progressive Care Unit
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
BLS issued by American Heart Association
NIHSS certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
