Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Covington, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Epic electronic health record experience preferred
• Weekend shifts required, including weekend call as needed
• Call requirement: 3-4 call shifts per 4-week schedule
• Holiday shifts as needed

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Trauma experience
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)

Required Competencies and Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually)
• Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, and III, updated annually)

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with appropriate documentation)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per current guidelines
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (exemptions and declinations accepted with documentation)

Background and Documentation

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days

Additional Information

• Hospital provides scrubs
• Charge nurse experience preferred but not required
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position

Required License

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Louisiana
