Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Temp, Outpatient (Days)

Job Description

• Perform physical therapy procedures and related tasks delegated by a supervising physical therapist (PT).
• Assist in providing selected interventions as described in the patient’s plan of care.
• Use clinical problem-solving skills to ensure patient safety, comfort, and completion of interventions.
• Provide a variety of treatment approaches using manual techniques, equipment, and modalities.
• Document patient progress and maintain patient records in compliance with medical and third-party payer requirements.
• Function independently within the scope of the PTA Practice Act.
• Provide individualized patient and caregiver education.
• Modify treatment based on patient progress and communicate changes to the supervising PT.
• Assist other staff to maintain a clean, orderly, and effective rehabilitation environment.
• Adhere to the APTA Code of Ethics.
• Demonstrate effective communication and strong interpersonal skills to motivate patients and provide compassionate care.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Strong background in Total Knee Replacement (required).
• Experience in Total Hip Replacement (preferred).
• Experience in a busy outpatient clinic is preferable.
• Active Illinois Physical Therapist Assistant License.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Work history and skills checklist pertinent to the PTA specialty, current within 1 year.
• Two supervisory reference forms with dates of employment.
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible).
• Applicants who were direct employees within the last 2 years are not eligible.

Additional Information

• Electronic Medical Record system used: Cerner.
• Nonbillable hours: 16 hours.
• Overtime and holiday pay at 1.25x regular rate.
• Call back pay at 1.3x regular rate.
• On-call rate applies.
