Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Assignment
Location: Cortez, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Summary
Provide nursing care to patients in Labor and Delivery with willingness to train in Nursery and Recovery areas. Administer safe, efficient, and courteous care using appropriate nursing procedures. Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development, disease processes, and clinical assessment to meet patient needs. Utilize technology and evidence-based practices to improve health outcomes.

- Labor and Delivery
- Nursery and Recovery (training provided)
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Family Birthing Center (FBC)
- Procedural Sedation
- Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum Care (including complications)
- Fetal and Advanced Cardiac Monitoring
- Newborn Care (Delivery to Discharge)
- Critical Drips, Ventilator/BiPAP management
- Trauma Alert response
- Infant Security and Screening (Hearing, CCHD, Photo Therapy)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of recent Postpartum nursing experience
- Labor and Delivery experience
- Clinic nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in nursing specialty (Labor and Delivery/ICU preferred)
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Key Responsibilities
- Practice within nursing standards, policies, and accreditation requirements
- Provide patient-centered care and collaborate with healthcare team
- Supervise non-professional staff and assist physicians with patient care and procedures
- Administer medications following protocols, including controlled substances, using EMAR and scanning technology
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with ethical and regulatory standards
- Participate in ongoing education, departmental meetings, and quality improvement activities
- Respond flexibly to workload changes and assist other departments as needed
- Document nursing care accurately and timely using technology
- Adhere to safety, infection control, and dress code policies
- Care for patients of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
Physical and Work Environment Demands
- Exposure to infectious waste, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and occasional foul odors
- Moderate to loud noise levels; possible interactions with aggressive patients or visitors
- Possible exposure to environmental elements (heat, cold, precipitation, wind)
- Physical demands include lifting (up to 100 lbs occasionally), pushing/pulling, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and repetitive motions
- Requires good vision (including color vision), hearing, and verbal communication abilities
