Travel RN Opportunity – Medical ICU
Location: Alexandria, Louisiana

Unit Information
- Unit: Medical ICU
- Number of Beds: 26
- Patient Ratios: 2:1
- Staffing: RNs and Unit Secretary/COVID runner; total care provided by RNs
- Equipment: Ventilators, Alaris IV pumps, Balloon pumps, Ventriculostomy drains, Glucometers
- Technology: Use of iMobile phones and technology by all staff
- PPE: Masks, face shields, goggles, PAPR’s, and hoods for COVID-19 patients
- Documentation System: Meditech using Evidence Based Clinical Documentation (EBCD)
- Scheduling: 12-hour shifts (7 AM to 7 PM), every other weekend, holiday requirements apply
- Floating Policy: Nurses may float to other Medical-Surgical units, with priority to Intensive Care Units
- Patient Experience: Hourly rounding, bedside hand-off reporting, completion of “My Care Board” during hand-off, use of AIDET focusing on compassionate connected care

Advanced Skills Needed
- Ventilator management
- Critical care drip knowledge
- Thorough and accurate assessment skills
- Proficient knowledge of cardiac, neuro, and respiratory systems
- Proper donning and doffing of PPE
Procedures Performed on Unit
- Intubations
- Cardioversions
- Ventriculostomy drain placement and management
- Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) management
- Continual renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
- Proning of patients
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) is a plus
Dress Code
- Ceil blue scrubs required
- White or ceil blue scrub jacket optional
- Green surgery scrubs provided when working with COVID patients
