Unit Overview

Unit: Operating Room (OR)
Number of Beds: 11 operating rooms
Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 11 RNs, 11 Techs, 2 PCTs
- Night Shift (Mon-Thurs): 2 RNs, 2 Techs
- Night Shift (Fri-Sun): 1 RN, 1 Tech
- Weekend: 1 charge nurse, 2 RNs, 2 CSTs, 1 PCY
Patient Ratios: 1:1
Equipment: Microscopes, Robot Da Vinci Xi, Mako Robot, Laparoscopic Stryker tower, Stealth, Endovascular Hybrid room equipment
EMR System: Meditech
Permanent Positions Available: Yes

Schedule & Call

Day shift hours: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)
Shift lengths vary: 8, 10, or 12 hours based on need
Call required
Weekends possible based on need

Required Skills & Experience

Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) in Operating Room / Surgery
Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in general OR knowledge
Certifications: ACLS, BLS
Licenses: Registered Nurse License
Experience Requirements:
- General surgery, orthopedic, and neurosurgery experience (RN and Tech)
- For CVOR candidates: minimum 2 years CVOR experience including all adult open heart cases, open and endovascular cases (e.g., Triple A surgery, TAVR)
Preferred Skills:
- Trauma experience (RN and Tech)
- Vascular surgery experience (RN and Tech), including fistula creation and endarterectomy surgery

Typical Procedures

Spine surgeries: X-lif, A-lif, Decompression, ACDF
Neurosurgery: Craniotomy
Robotic surgeries: Thoracic, general, gynecology, urology
Orthopedic trauma and total joints (Mako Robot)
General open and laparoscopic surgery
Cardiovascular surgeries: CABG, valve surgeries, aortic surgeries including trauma
Endovascular procedures: TAVR, TCAR, TEVAR, EVAR, open vascular cases

Personality & Work Environment

Flexible and adaptable to different types of cases and rooms
Able to work collaboratively with staff and adapt to unit workflows
Willingness to occasionally pick up extra hours (not mandatory)
Supportive of new graduate techs and RNs

Scrub color: Light blue (scrubs provided)
