Job Opportunity: Surgical Technician
Location: Mammoth Lakes, California
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Surgical Technician assists with surgical procedures by performing scrubbing duties, preparing for procedures, and supporting the operative team. Responsibilities include maintaining sterile supplies and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a sterile field
- Inspect sterile items for contamination before use
- Anticipate equipment and supply needs before cases begin
- Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and air-powered equipment per manufacturer instructions
- Scrub all surgical procedures, including specialty surgeries such as sports medicine and trauma, without a sales representative present
- Assist RN with operative charge completion and hardware recording
- Collect specimens and cultures, verifying source and tissue identification with the surgeon
Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Minimum 1 year experience in operating room as a Surgical Technician or completion of Surgical Technician training
- Certification or eligibility for certification preferred
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification required
Schedule & Other Details
- 12-hour day/evening shifts, varied schedule
- On-call required
- Housing available depending on availability (walking distance to hospital)
