Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Rehabilitation Therapy

Location: Lamar, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Must have inpatient experience.
• Work as part of a team under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist.
• Implement selected components of patient/client interventions (treatment).
• Obtain data related to interventions provided.
• Modify interventions to progress the patient/client or ensure safety and comfort as directed by the physical therapist.

Responsibilities

• Assist physical therapists in treating individuals of all ages, from newborns to elderly.
• Treat patients with medical or health-related conditions limiting movement and functional activities.
• Provide patient care in inpatient, outpatient, and home health settings.

Accountability

• Reports directly to the Rehabilitation Manager.

Special Demands

• Mental: Strong communication skills with employees, physicians, visitors, administration, and the public. Ability to handle diverse job situations requiring independent judgment.
• Physical: Competency in operating position-related equipment, performing technical procedures, professional communication, and exercising supervision and management skills.

Education & Certification

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Currently credentialed by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, Division of Professions and Occupations, State Physical Therapy Board.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years experience; primarily outpatient experience preferred.
• Bi-lingual capabilities are helpful.

Working Environment

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Work in a state-of-the-art, newly built Rehabilitation Gymnasium.
• Clean, well-lighted, heated, and air-conditioned area.
• Possible exposure to unpleasant sights, smells, and infectious diseases.
