Job Opportunity: Med Surg RN (Registered Nurse)

Position Details

Shift: Night shift (18:30 - 07:00)
Hours Guaranteed: 36 hours per week
Unit: Medical-Surgical (Med Surg)
Beds: 42
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6 (1:6 ratio occurs at least once a week)
Common Patient Types: Medical, surgical, orthopedics
Charge Nurse: Present on each shift and takes assignments
Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs: Yes, ratio approximately 1:10-12
Respiratory Therapist (RT): Available 24 hours on the floor
Telemetry: Telemetry on the floor with a centralized telemetry station
Drips: No titratable drips except Heparin
Floating Requirements: May float to PCU or Burn units
Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs (scrubs provided)
Orientation: First week classroom, followed by two 12-hour shifts on the floor
Weekend/Holiday Requirement: As needed
Call/Standby: None

Requirements

Specialty: Med Surg RN
Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year of unit experience
Certifications: BLS required
Prior Travel Experience: Not required
Additional Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver's license at submittal (used to verify candidate is outside a 50-mile radius)
- Candidates cannot be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and/or Dignity)
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to comply will result in contract termination
- Must pass a 90% score on an open book skills exam during orientation (failure results in termination)
- Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO extensions allowed
