Radiation Therapist - Travel Assignment

Location: Show Low, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

A regional hospital in the White Mountains of Arizona is seeking a Radiation Therapist for a travel assignment. This position offers Monday through Friday day shifts with a guaranteed 40-hour workweek and no cancellations. The location provides access to numerous outdoor activities and is within a few hours of Flagstaff and Phoenix.

Requirements

• ARRT Certified Radiation Therapist
• Current Arizona State CTT Radiation Therapist certification
• Active Arizona license
• BLS (AHA) certification
• Minimum 2 years of experience

Work Schedule

• Monday to Friday, day shifts
• 40 hours per week guaranteed
• No cancellations

Equipment & Software

• Varian 21iX Linear Accelerator
• Pinnacle treatment planning software
• EMR Systems: Mosaiq and Allscripts
• Mosaiq Record & Verify system

Key Responsibilities

• Administer external beam radiation therapy accurately per physician prescription
• Perform startup procedures for linear accelerator and simulator
• Conduct morning quality assurance (QA) and document results; report deviations ≥5%
• Perform conventional and CT simulations reproducibly
• Fabricate immobilization devices and custom blocking
• Mount compensators and 3D compensators accurately
• Prepare patients for treatment based on simulation documentation
• Complete photon and electron block fabrication
• Perform field QA for IMRT and compensator fields
• Document patient setup and communicate any deviations to physician
• Complete daily treatments according to physician orders and treatment plans
• Perform weekly portal imaging or IGRT as directed
• Shift patients accurately as directed by physician
• Maintain patient appointments within 5 minutes of scheduled time
• Schedule appointments and submit billing accurately
• Collaborate with dosimetry to retrieve DRRs, calculations, and treatment plans
• Attach treatment plans to electronic patient charts
• Verify accuracy and completeness of documentation; notify physician of issues
• Perform weekly chart checks
• Assist physicians with On Treatment Visits (OTVs)
• Document patient height (inches) and weight (kg)
• Order and maintain inventory and supplies
• Participate in chart rounds and tumor boards
• Practice radiation safety and report machine malfunctions
• Demonstrate professional etiquette and adhere to service standards
• Promote patient safety as a core organizational value

Physical Demands & Work Conditions

• Heavy physical demands including lifting up to 50-100 lbs occasionally
• Frequent standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing
• Extensive close and computer work
• Exposure to chemicals, infectious fluids, and potentially upset/disturbed individuals
• Requires finger dexterity, handling, grasping, and repetitive motions of hands, wrists, and feet

Shift Hours

• Monday to Thursday: 7 AM - 5 PM
• Friday: 8 AM - 12 PM
