Certified Surgical Assistant - Bismarck, ND
Job Overview
- Position: Certified Surgical Assistant (SFA / Surgical Tech First Assist)
- Location: Bismarck, North Dakota
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (40 hours/week)
- Call Requirements:
- One weekday call shift per week (3:30 PM – 7:00 AM next day)
- One weekend call shift every 4 weeks
- Work Sites: Main hospital surgery center and outpatient surgery center across the street
Clinical Responsibilities
- Assist in Cardiovascular surgical procedures including:
- CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting)
- Angiograms
- Endarterectomies (Carotid and Femoral)
- Aortic Root repairs
- Valve Replacement
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) repairs
- Assist in General surgery, Orthopedics, OB/GYN, Urology, ENT, and Plastic surgery procedures
- Utilize equipment such as:
- Computerized charting system (EPIC)
- Covidien cauteries
- Stryker laparoscopic towers
Unit Information
- Operating Rooms: 12 ORs at main hospital, 6 ORs at outpatient surgery center
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1
- Volume: Approximately 40 to 60 procedures daily
- Orientation: One week with a preceptor; thorough preference cards available
- Team: Includes Registered Nurse First Assists and Surgical Technologist First Assists
Required Qualifications
- First Assist Technician with a minimum of 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year
- RNFA, CSTFA, or CFA credential
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA)
- Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA)
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Additional Notes
- Floating between main hospital and outpatient surgery center required
- Dress code: Appropriate attire with provided scrubs available on site
