Position: Certified Surgical Assistant (SFA / Surgical Tech First Assist)
Location: Bismarck, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Call Requirements:
- One weekday call shift per week (3:30 PM – 7:00 AM next day)
- One weekend call shift every 4 weeks
Work Sites: Main hospital surgery center and outpatient surgery center across the street

Assist in Cardiovascular surgical procedures including:
- CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting)
- Angiograms
- Endarterectomies (Carotid and Femoral)
- Aortic Root repairs
- Valve Replacement
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) repairs
Assist in General surgery, Orthopedics, OB/GYN, Urology, ENT, and Plastic surgery procedures
Utilize equipment such as:
- Computerized charting system (EPIC)
- Covidien cauteries
- Stryker laparoscopic towers

Operating Rooms: 12 ORs at main hospital, 6 ORs at outpatient surgery center
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1
Volume: Approximately 40 to 60 procedures daily
Orientation: One week with a preceptor; thorough preference cards available
Team: Includes Registered Nurse First Assists and Surgical Technologist First Assists

First Assist Technician with a minimum of 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year
RNFA, CSTFA, or CFA credential
BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA)
Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA)
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
