Respiratory Therapist (Peds & Adult Med Surg)

Location: Marshfield, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Certifications

• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• PALS (AHA)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via NBRC
• Wisconsin State RT license (may take 6-8 weeks to obtain)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience
• Must have trauma level 2 or 3 experience
• Must have pediatric experience (NICU, PICU, Peds)
• Prior travel experience NOT required (first-time travelers accepted)
• Travel duos accepted

Patient Population & Coverage Areas

• NICU, PICU, Pediatric, Adult Med Surg, and Emergency Department patients
• Inpatient and Emergency Department coverage

Job Duties

• Perform ABGs and CBGs in intensive care units
• Provide coverage for EKG department overnight and as needed
• Assist with intubation (do not intubate independently)
• May place laryngeal airway (King airway) during code blue situations

Staffing & Supervision

• Neonatologists and Hospitalists in-house 24/7
• Respiratory system director, RT manager, supervisor, and lead RT assigned per shift

Shifts & Scheduling

• 3 shifts of 12 hours: Day (0630-1900) and Night (1830-0700)
• Schedule created in 6-week blocks, attempts made to block schedules when possible
• Weekend requirement: Every third weekend
• Holiday requirement: Every other holiday
• Call/standby call: Not required; occasional volunteer off-shift call from 1900-0400 with 1-hour response time

• Scrub color: Any color; supportive footwear encouraged
• Equipment used:

  • Ventilators: Servo U, Servo I, PB840 (replacing with Servo U), Hamilton T1
  • Bipap/CPAP: V-60, V-30, Resmeds
  • Highflow: Vapotherm
  • Other: INOmax Plus, Oscillators, Cough assist, Volara
• Orientation: Leadership orientation plus 3-4 days floor orientation
• Clinicians must clock in/out at the facility
• Previous Marshfield employees must have a minimum 6-month gap since last employment before reapplying

This position accepts first-time travel Respiratory Therapists and offers experience with a diverse patient population including pediatric and adult medical-surgical cases.
