Med Surg RN Travel Assignment

Location: Hayward, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

A critical access hospital in northwest Wisconsin is seeking a Med Surg RN with at least 2 years of experience for a 13-week travel assignment. The facility is traveler-friendly and located in an area with many outdoor activities such as cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

Requirements

• Specialty: Med Surg RN
• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years (higher value from description and additional info)
• Certifications:

  • BLS required
  • ACLS preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers are welcome)

Unit Information

• Department: MedSurg
• Number of Beds: 25
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4
• Common Patient Diagnoses:

  • Adult post-surgical (Orthopedic)
  • General medical (cardiac, pulmonary, renal, GI, urology)
• Nurse Responsibilities:

  • Occasional titration of drips (Heparin, insulin, IVF, electrolytes, diltiazem, antibiotics, occasional dopamine, TPN)
• Support Staff:

  • No monitor techs; Mindray monitoring system used
  • Nurse aides present (2 during days, 1.5 during PM shifts)
  • Respiratory therapists available for ventilator support as needed
• Supervision: House Supervisor always present but not required to take assignments

Scheduling & Work Environment

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
• Shift Times: 3 AM or 3 PM start
• Scheduling: No self-scheduling; block scheduling possible upon request
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Yes
• Call/Standby: No
• Floating: No
• Dress Code: Charcoal/pewter gray scrubs, any style (scrubs provided)
• Orientation: Unit-specific orientation tailored to individual
