Overview

• Night shift
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Contract length: 5 weeks
• Location: Renton, Washington
• Facility-based in an ER with 55 beds total, 8–12 swing beds, and 4 trauma bays
• Fast track is available, known as AC (accelerated care)
• Separate triage area in the lobby
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms
• In-house security is present
• EPIC ASAP is used

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Washington
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ED - Emergency Department (2 years of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS
• BLS
• ENPC
• NIHSS
• PALS
• TNCC
• Experience with Epic
• Must be comfortable providing culturally competent care to a highly diverse patient population
• Must align with the mission to care for the community like family
• No license hits dealing with diverting meds or endangerment

Schedule

• Variable shifts
• Every other weekend
• Holidays required
• No call or standby

Unit Details

• 4-zone department
• Staffing includes nurses, MSTs, a resource nurse per zone, a charge nurse, a patient flow coordinator, triage nurses, and protocol nurses
• Main ED ratio: 4:1
• Accelerated care ratio: 5:1
• Critical care ratio: 2:1
• Common patient types include STEMI, stroke, DKA, sepsis, trauma, respiratory diseases, and behavioral health
• RNs draw ABGs and set up small-dose breathing treatments
• RT manages respiratory equipment and is available for consult
• RNs and MSTs perform ECGs
• MST and RNs read telemetry strips
• RNs are required to transport critical patients
• Nurse and MST draws are used for phlebotomy

Orientation

• First day with ED leadership and badging
• 2–3 shifts of bedside orientation

• Lodging options are available nearby, including hotels, apartments, Airbnb, and furnished rentals, at additional cost
