Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Job Details

• Unit: Emergency Room with 15 beds plus a 6-bed fast track (open 9am-10pm)
• Patient acuity ratio typically 1:4
• Level III trauma experience or above preferred
• Common patient diagnoses: stroke, abdominal pain, orthopedic injuries, psychiatric patients
• Approximately 100 patient visits per day; 500-600 pediatric patients per month
• EMR system: Cerner (First Net)
• Charge nurse responsibilities include managing a small patient load if needed
• Support staff: nurse aides, unit secretary 24/7, tech coverage ~20 hours/day
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7; ventilators in use
• In-house physician coverage 24/7 with midlevels typically 9am-2am
• Pharmacy available 24/7
• No IV team; nurses manage IVs themselves
• Telemetry monitoring with Phillips central monitor tech in ICU monitoring ER patient strips

Work Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts (e.g., 7pm-7am, 9pm-9am, 10pm-10am, 11pm-11am, 2pm-2am)
• Approximately 36 hours per week
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday work integrated into permanent staff rotation
• Schedules posted 30-45 days in advance
• No floating required
• Floor-specific orientation: 2-3 days on unit
