Job Overview
Seeking experienced nurses with 2+ years of current telemetry experience for a travel contract in a telemetry float pool. Candidates must have active BLS, ACLS, and Arizona license or compact license. Ability to titrate cardiac drips is required. Floating between units and campuses is mandatory.
Requirements
- 2+ years telemetry nursing experience
- Active BLS and ACLS certifications
- Arizona nursing license or compact license
- Ability to titrate cardiac drips (Amio, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, Dobutamine to titrate down only)
- Pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing (2 attempts max)
- Pass a pass/fail simulation lab on day 1 of orientation
- COVID vaccine required or approved declination form
Floating Details
- Frequent floating between Chandler and Mercy Gilbert campuses (9 miles apart, approx. 15 minutes travel)
- Floating to Telemetry, MedSurg, ICU, Cath Lab, ER, observation floor, and other holding areas
- Notification of unit and campus given 1.5 hours before shift start
- Possible mid-shift floating; rare to float between campuses mid-shift
- Must clock out/in when changing campuses

Telemetry B3A (Cardiac Telemetry)
- 32 beds
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3-4
- Charge nurse present (no patient assignment)
- PCT ratio: 1 per 16 patients
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Scrub color: Navy
- Centralized telemetry monitoring; RNs must interpret EKGs
- No ventilators
- Hospitalist rounds during day, on-call at night
- Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
- 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm)
- Floating to similar or lower acuity units
- 2-day floor-specific orientation
- Patient types: Post cath lab, post vascular procedures, day 2 CABG, general telemetry; patients 15 years and older
Tele Neuro (Neuro Telemetry)
- 28 beds
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3-4
- Charge nurse present (no patient assignment)
- PCT ratio: 1 per 16 patients
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Scrub color: Navy
- Centralized telemetry monitoring; RNs must interpret EKGs
- No ventilators or ICP monitoring
- Hospitalist rounds during day, on-call at night
- Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
- 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm)
- 2-day floor-specific orientation
- Patient types: Neuro post-surgical, post craniotomy, spine, CVAs post TPA
Medical-Surgical C5
- 32 beds (Ortho, Surgical, Oncology)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 (days and nights)
- Charge nurse present (no patient assignment)
- PCTs on days; 1 PCT or Task RN at night
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (including one major and one minor holiday)
- Scrub color: Navy
- GE monitors with central monitoring tech
- No ventilators
- Must call physician (no in-house hospitalist/intensivist)
- No IV team; House SWAT nurse available for difficult IV sticks
- Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7 (ICU pharmacist covers days)
- 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm)
- Floating to MedSurg Tele B2C and B2D
- 2-shift floor-specific orientation
- Patient types: 80% surgical (including JHACO certified knee/hip program), 20% oncology; urological, abdominal, Whipple, women's surgeries (no OB/GYN)
- Use of Spectralink phones (call light attached to phone)
Medical-Surgical B2C
- 29 beds
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 (days and nights)
- Charge nurse present (no patient assignment)
- PCTs on days; 1 PCT or SWAT RN at night
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (including one major and one minor holiday)
- Scrub color: Navy
- GE monitors with central monitoring tech
- No ventilators
- Must call physician (no in-house hospitalist/intensivist)
- No IV team; House SWAT nurse available for difficult IV sticks
- Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7 (ICU pharmacist covers days)

- Floating to MedSurg Tele C5 and B2D
- 2-shift floor-specific orientation
- Patient types: General MedSurg patients requiring telemetry; Amio, Cardizem to titrate down only
- Use of Spectralink phones (call light attached to phone)
- New grad training unit with clinical scholar mentorship for 4 weeks
- Auto offer off prescreen recommended
- First to float; must work 2 of 3 major holidays
Additional Notes
- Dysrhythmia exam must be passed within 48 hours of offer; failure results in removal from the region for 6 months
- Simulation lab on day 1 of orientation is pass/fail; failure results in removal for 6 months
- Floating includes all Tele and MedSurg units, ICU, and other areas as needed
- COVID vaccination or approved declination required
