Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery RN (Traveler - Backfill)

Location: Rock Springs, Wyoming
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide RN care for labor and delivery unit including:

  • Antepartum care
  • Vaginal and cesarean section deliveries
  • Immediate delivery care and newborn resuscitation (NRP)
• Care for postpartum mothers and newborns on mother-baby unit
• Care for well newborns and special care nursery babies, including:

  • Initial stabilization after delivery
  • Medications administration
  • Breastfeeding assistance
  • CPAP, PIV access and maintenance, IV fluids and antibiotics
  • Management of hyperbilirubinemia and hypoglycemia
  • Stabilization for transport to tertiary care center
• Use of computerized charting, Pyxis medication system, central electronic fetal monitoring, and Alaris IV smart pumps
• May float occasionally to medical floor or ER to assist with basic tasks (no patient load)

Schedule

• Nights, 7 PM to 7 AM
• Self-scheduling with other staff
• 2 weekends per month required
• 2 holidays required if covering over holidays
• No current call requirements (may change based on department needs)

Unit Details

• 3 Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms
• 5 postpartum rooms
• 4 triage rooms
• Recovering area and OR suite
• Nurse-to-patient ratio follows AWHONN guidelines

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in Labor & Delivery, postpartum, and special care nursery (highest required years of experience)
• Wyoming RN state license or compact nursing license
• BLS/CPR certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• Intermediate AWHONN certification required

Additional Information

• Orientation: 2-day training on EMR system, workflow, and supplies
• Dress code: Scrubs provided; no visible tattoos; body jewelry removed during work hours except ear studs
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs comfortable with newborn and postpartum care, working night shifts, and flexible scheduling.
