Step Down Unit Registered Nurse

Location

• Henderson, Kentucky

Contract

• Travel assignment
• 13 weeks
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 12-hour days

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Tele interpretation experience with requirement to pass tele tests
• Experience initiating and titrating insulin drips
• Experience initiating and titrating heparin drips
• Experience initiating and titrating cardiac drips
• Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

• PIV insertion
• Stable home vents
• Chest tube/indwelling drain management
• CBI
• Stable drips such as lasix and protonix
• Blood product administration
• Continuous BiPap
• Drain management
• Neutropenic precautions
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Hard worker, resilient, adaptable, and social

Schedule

• Every third weekend
• Every other holiday

Float Scope

• First to float within skillset
• May float to Deaconess Newburgh campus and Deaconess Gateway campus
• Mid-shift float within the same campus is possible

Unit Details

• Stepdown/PCU patient population
• 10-bed SDU
• 15-bed Tele unit
• Day ratios: 1:4-5 for SDU, 1:5-6 for Tele
• Night ratios: 1:5-6 for SDU, 1:6 for Tele

Additional Notes

• Clinical interview
• Bi-weekly orientation
• No local candidates within 40 miles
• Travelers must pass tele tests
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires
• Navy blue scrubs
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
