Overview

• Shift Requirement: 12-hour Days (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (48 hours upon request)

Job Description

The position is for a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Renal Unit, focusing on Medical Surgical / Telemetry.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients post-cardiac procedures (e.g., heart catheterization, ablation, pacemaker).
• Manage patients with conditions such as A-fib RVR, ESRD, CHF, sepsis, and tracheostomies.
• Perform tele/12-lead EKG interpretation and manage various drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone).
• Conduct assessments and critical thinking in patient care.

Patient Population

• Post-cardiac procedure patients
• Patients with behavioral health needs and detox protocols

Unit Information

• Bed Size: 34 beds
• Patient Ratio:

  • Days: 1:4-5
  • Nights: 1:6-7
• Unit Strengths: Strong leadership team

Requirements

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical / Telemetry experience within the last year
• Experience caring for post-cardiac catheterization patients
• Proficient in PIV insertion
• Experience managing chest tubes and indwelling drains
• Experience with continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• Experience with detox/CIWA protocols
• Skilled in central line care

Additional Information

• Float Requirement: First to float within skillset; potential to float to Deaconess Midtown (8 miles) and Deaconess Henderson (11 miles).
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Three weekends out of every six weeks; every other holiday.
• Scrub Colors: Navy blue scrubs
• Covid-19 Vaccine: Not required (subject to change)

Skills Required

• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Telemetry skills, including passing telemetry tests
• Experience with central line care and management of various medical devices
