RN - Psychiatric - Contract

Overview

• Psychiatric nursing contract role in New York, New York
• 9-week contract
• Night shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• 34.5 hours per week
• 5x8 schedule
• Weekends and holidays required
• 31-bed unit

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Psychiatric (2 years of experience)
• Psychiatric experience within the last year
• CPI Certification
• PMCS Certification
• BLS Certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• EPIC experience
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Associate degree in nursing considered only with relevant experience and/or active matriculation in a BSN program

Role Responsibilities

• Provides direct psychiatric patient care using the nursing process
• Assesses patient needs, prioritizes care, and applies critical thinking
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team on care planning and evaluation
• Educates patients and caregivers on care plans and transition of care
• Supports patient experience through therapeutic communication and rounding
• Participates in quality, safety, and process improvement activities
• May perform charge nurse duties
• Documents nursing care accurately and thoroughly
• Helps coordinate supplies, staffing resources, and patient throughput
