Staff Nurse Specialty Care

Location

  • Johnson City, New York

Job Type

  • Clinical nursing
  • 13-week contract
  • Evening shift
  • 36 hours per week

Schedule

  • 4 ten-hour shifts Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • May be asked to staff general OR if cardiac volume is low
  • Call may be required: 2 to 3 shifts per week, usually 2:30 PM to 6:00 AM
  • Every other weekend call coverage

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New York
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • OR - Operating Room (6 months of experience)
  • OR - Operating Room experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting
  • CCRN
  • Relevant skills certification such as ACLS, PALS, or TNCC, as required by the home unit assigned

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients
  • Educate patients and families in health promotion and disease management
  • Administer medications safely
  • Support staffing, time management, supplies, and service utilization
  • Participate in shared governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review
  • Engage in professional development and mandatory education
  • Integrate nursing research and current evidence into practice
  • Support new employees and students
  • Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned
  • Perform other assigned duties
