Job Summary

Provide safe, therapeutic, and individualized nursing care to critically ill patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members to promote quality outcomes and advocate for patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document findings.
• Develop, implement, and adapt individualized care plans using the nursing process.
• Evaluate patient and family progress toward goals and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Identify and address patient and family educational needs using adult learning principles.
• Serve as a patient advocate, encouraging participation in decision-making and upholding patient rights.
• Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate and optimize patient care.
• Delegate tasks appropriately within the scope of practice of healthcare team members.
• Participate in patient care conferences and document patient responses to care.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Work Hours

• 12 hours per day, approximately 36 hours per week.
