Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy for individuals and families. The RN ensures compliance with professional standards and promotes a caring, patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely using pharmacology knowledge.
• Manage productivity and resource utilization including staffing and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies.
• Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Support learning for new employees and students.
• Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned.
• Participate in the Clinical Ladder Program as expertise develops.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 6 months to 3 years of nursing (RN) experience.
• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
• Licensure: Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• Certifications: BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Skills: Collaboration, verbal and written communication, critical thinking, organizational skills, planning, problem solving, quality focus, reliability, safety, and risk management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Certifications such as CCRN, ACLS, PALS, TNCC as required by the assigned unit.
