Radiation Therapy Tech - Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Job Summary

  • Perform patient radiation therapy treatments and related activities following established protocols.
  • Assist physicians during patient treatments.
  • Maintain complete patient clinical histories and records.
  • Perform QA/QC equipment tests and simulator procedures as required.
  • Maintain sterile techniques and a clean examination environment.
  • Share emergency call duties as required.
  • Provide age-appropriate care and assess patient data to meet age-specific needs.
  • Report directly to Dosimetry Supervisor and Lead Radiation Therapist.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in radiation therapy.
  • Proficient in radiation treatment setup and performance.
  • Proper operation of Linear Accelerators.
  • Fabrication of immobilization devices.
  • CT Simulation performance and operation.
  • IGRT (Image-Guided Radiation Therapy) application and performance.
  • IMRT (Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy) application and performance.
  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery operation and performance.
  • Proper patient positioning for treatment and simulation procedures.
  • Accurate recording of treatment details in patient charts.
  • Understanding of departmental policies for reporting and correcting treatment setup errors.
  • Ability to review patient charts prior to setup, including patient positioning, collimator settings, SAD/SSD, and treatment techniques.
  • Knowledge of when physician involvement is required during treatment.
  • Knowledge and adherence to protocols for irradiating blood.
  • Ability to work as a team member, follow directions precisely, demonstrate initiative, set priorities, and function under stress.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to operate equipment including IV pump, heart monitor, suction machine, one touch, and blood pressure machine.
  • Physical ability to lift, handle, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved AMA school of radiation technology.
  • Certification/Licensure:
    • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) R.T. (R) Radiography.
    • Mississippi State Department of Health Medical Radiation Technologist license.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
