Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist
Location: Warwick, Rhode Island
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide respiratory care and assist with diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of cardiopulmonary diseases and disorders.
Responsibilities
- Perform respiratory therapy treatments per physician orders (aerosol medication delivery, lung expansion, airway clearance, airway maintenance, care planning, patient education).
- Obtain arterial blood from radial artery for blood gas analysis; interpret results and recommend treatment.
- Manage ventilators including initiation, maintenance, monitoring, assessment, and liberation. Perform suctioning (nasal, oral, pharyngeal).
- Provide rapid response assessment and emergency care including airway management, CPR, trauma care, ventilatory and oxygenation support.
- Support and monitor patient transport within and between hospitals using portable ventilators and oxygen delivery systems.
- Set up and administer oxygen using various devices.
- Perform charges, record keeping, and equipment maintenance/reprocessing.
- Document therapy provided, medication administered, and patient response in medical records.
- Ensure safe patient handoffs by providing pertinent information to oncoming staff.
- Educate patients and families to assist in self-care and care transitions.
- Train employees and students in daily procedures; may oversee and prioritize care in supervisor’s absence.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Current Rhode Island Respiratory Therapist License.
- Valid CRT or RRT certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC accepted).
