Role

• Pediatric Behavioral Health RN
• Travel/Contract
• Night shift: 4x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
• 1:1 ratio
• 48 hours per week
• 13-week contract

Unit / Setting

• Pediatric acute psychiatric crisis unit for children ages 4–17
• Teaching, Magnet, Level I Trauma facility
• 407 staffed beds

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Washington
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Pediatric Behavioral Health experience within the last year
• 2 years of Pediatric Behavioral Health experience
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• Ability to initiate and perform physical holds, mechanical restraint, and seclusion as needed for safety
• De-escalation and prevention techniques to manage disruptive behaviors
• Therapeutic communication skills

Preferred

• Limited pediatric background or behavioral health experience may be considered

Schedule / Logistics

• Every other weekend
• First-timers accepted
• On-call: potential
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs: potential
• Locals accepted
• Guaranteed hours
• Block schedule not accommodated

Clinical Notes

• Patients may have diagnoses including depression, disruptive behavior, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, psychosis, mania, eating disorders, conduct disorder, suicidal ideation, and self-injurious behaviors
• Patients may have chronic medical comorbidities and nursing needs including diabetes, epilepsy, refeeding, cast care, and wound care
• RNs may be assigned primary care, 1:1 care, or milieu support as needed
